The Playoff below is based on last years rules for BCS Bowl Game inclusion. It takes into consideration teams outside of the P5 if they are ranked in the top 12 or top 16 (if that is higher than any P5 Conference Champion). Notre Dame would also be excluded because they are not in the top 8. As it turns out, if we finished the season today, the top 8 teams would include the current 1st place team from the P5 Conferences and 3 at large teams.
SEC: (1) Alabama, (7) Mississippi St.
Pac 12: (3) Oregon, (8) Arizona
Big 12: (4) TCU, (6) Baylor
ACC: (2) Florida St
BIG: (5) Ohio St.
I am making an assumption that if there were a committee that was seeding teams they would consider if any of the included teams had played in the past. In this case I swapped Arizona for Mississippi St so that we don't have to watch a rematch.
